Change can be a difficult process for a person who has been suffering from drug and alcohol dependence issues. Many times the person is experiencing intense feelings of shame and guilt over some of the life choices they have made. Here at Balboa Horizons Intensive Outpatient Services we understand what a difficult process this is for our Clients. Having a safe, supportive, and caring environment can facilitate incredible change for a person. We believe that treatment works and that it can work for you.
It can be difficult for a person to make a traditional 30-day commitment to an inpatient residential treatment program. There are real life factors, which cannot be avoided for someone to seek treatment. Usually there are responsibilities that must be fulfilled such as work and family obligations. Intensive Outpatient Treatment is a cost effective way to get the drug alcohol rehabilitation needed for recovery, without leaving work, home, school or other life responsibilities.
Attending and Intensive Outpatient Program allows an individual to seek the necessary help while being able to maintain normal daily life obligations. This can be helpful in minimizing overall stress, which may come from having to balance their recovery commitment and life stressors. Intensive Outpatient Programs allow an individual to learn how to effectively balance their personal life and their recovery. Learning how to incorporate balance is the key towards long-term recovery. This balance is the foundation for Balboa Horizons Intensive Outpatient Services.
Balboa Horizons Intensive Outpatient Services for Adult
Adults who have substance related issues require a lot of support in order to bring about change in their lives. Here at Balboa Horizons Intensive Outpatient Services, we understand the importance of assisting our clients through this difficult process. The Balboa Horizons Intensive Outpatient Services incorporates several different therapeutic modalities. We believe that a strong foundation of relapse prevention, a 12-step program, and a family component can help a person maintain their recovery and effectively make change in their lives. These different therapeutic modalities have been proven through empirical research to help a person struggling with substance related issue.
Group
Clients begin to start attending group therapy. This is an important part of the their treatment experience. Often times the most difficult part in the journey of giving up substances is not actually doing without the drug itself. It is far more difficult to leave behind the culture in which the drug or alcohol habit existed. When people attend 9 hours a week of group work with other people in recovery, it starts to shift their values as part of their recovery. Breaking free from the values of drug or alcohol use and the elements that make up the drug culture is essential. Because it is so critical to the stabilization process, Balboa Horizons Intensive Outpatient Services goes to great lengths to build cohesiveness within the new culture; to create a cohesive group where clients feel safe and where they can share openly and become a support system for one another.
Family Night
On the first Wednesday of each month, families are invited to participate. We believe that family involvement is an important aspect in the healing process. Most clients that come into treatment are often supported by family members that are in the background also needing their own group to help them better understand the disease process and how they can help their loved one heal. Families are educated on such subject matter as setting healthy boundaries, addictions and the addiction process, co-dependency in relationships, family systems and family roles, feeling identification and expression.
